About Carmen
I am an experienced qualified violin, viola & cello teacher based in Dingwall & Inverness with over 20 years of teaching experience in schools, music services, and privately.
As a former Head of Strings, I have led instrumental programmes, developed curriculum, supported staff and guided students from beginner level through to advanced performance and examination success.
My work has always centred on developing secure technical foundations alongside deep musical understanding. I believe strong musicianship including theory, aural skills, listening and expressive awareness is essential to long-term success and confidence.
I am passionate about creating a calm, focused and encouraging learning environment where students feel both supported and challenged.
Music education should build confidence, discipline and joy. Skills that extend far beyond the instrument itself.Musicianship
“Carmen genuinely cares for Sophia and the weekly lessons provide so much more than just learning to play the violin, they have instilled an abundance of confidence and inspiration in Sophia. Having lessons in our lounge allows me to listen in on occasion. When I hear a little giggle between them, it makes my heart sing and reminds me how much they enjoy each other's company.”
